Before coming to Riverdale ‘D’ had many community placements which always broke down quickly. ‘D’ had a severe mental illness and substance abuse problems.

‘D’ had little insight into his illness, his need to comply with medication and treatment and was poorly motivated to get up, care for himself or engage in activities.

At Riverdale, for the first time in any community placements ‘D’ did not take drugs. He gained insight into his own needs, started caring for himself and took up new hobbies and activities in the community. ‘D’ also got back in touch with his family after many years and after only twelve months moved back home to supported accommodation.
